Stream Layouts I’ve been making my own stream layouts for about a year now, and I’ve been getting more confident in my abilities. I feel like it’s worth documenting the process that goes into making something like this. The Cardboard Diorama (2021) Credit to YmntleStock on Deviantart for the cardboard texture I used for this project! The initial wave shape using GIMP path curves as vectors A more jagged edge, for that "cut from cardboard" look. A wave digitally cut out of digital cardboard These waves get a translucent color placed over them, and will later be part of the animated background! This wave is for the foreground info bar We duplicate the wave to give it a "shadow," the other lining sheet of the corrugated cardboard. Then, I start working on the ruffled sheet in between the two lining sheets. Here's the simple zigzag I made to start. Then, I had to adjust each point, mapping them to their expected points on both the foreground and background liners so that they realistically follow where the board was cut. The ruffling with absolutely no lighting. You can't see the depth at all, it looks like a flat sheet of weirdly cut cardboard. Shading by alternating different black opacities. After overlaying the original sheet on top and adding some outlines, voila! The info bar is done! A closer look at the animation coming soon… A closer look at the implementation in Streamlabs OBS coming soon…
