Game Dev
I’ve begun work on a 2D top-down HoloMyth Zelda-like featuring Amelia Watson. I’ve been working on a different project for several years now, but I’ve decided I’ll put that aside and try to do a couple smaller projects.
Before this update, I already implemented movement in the 4 cardinal directions, jumping, and ground pounding. I gave ground pounding a hitbox that could destroy enemy characters. Since the game is 2D, stuff like jumping had to be programmed somewhat manually, but the end result is great.
Today, I made Amelia’s sprite match the direction she’s moving, added enemy knockback and hit stun, and made Amelia’s hurt box disappear while above a certain height in her jump. This allows Amelia to jump over enemies, and perform ground pounds without taking knockback and hit stun.
